Smartphone manufacturers are trying to get ahead of each other all the time, introducing more and more new features that should make their smartphones unique. Don’t fall for this marketing gimmick. I’m sure many of you probably won’t use most of these features. Sometimes they are of interest only to enthusiasts and those who love experiments.
Sim Slots, Bluetooth, Headphones jack, Type-C connector
It is recommended to choose smartphones with a USB Type-C connector and the Dual-SIM function, that is, support for two SIM cards. It is worth remembering that most modern models are no longer equipped with a classic headphone jack. Therefore, you will either need to purchase an adapter for this or use wireless headphones. Now there is a true boom in the market for this type of headphones.
NFC Module
Fortunately, most modern smartphones have a built-in NFC module (this does not apply to the cheapest models). Support for this module will allow you to use the Google Pay or Apple Pay contactless payment system.
Screen & Speakers
If you like to listen to music, choose models with built-in stereo speakers and support for Hi-Res Audio. If you’re a movie theater fan on your smartphone, then don’t skimp on a device with an OLED/AMOLED/HDR screen.
Waterproof certified
But there are also important features that you should definitely pay attention to. So, when choosing a new device, you should look for models with a waterproof case, certified IP68, or at least IP53. Yes, they will cost more, but it’s definitely worth it. You will be sure that the new smartphone is protected from various force majeure circumstances that can disable it and damage the case or components.
Pay attention to the Operating System & Battery
Software is a very important point that most ordinary users forget about. The current operating system with available updates for future versions is not only convenient but also secure. New security feature adjustments make it harder for hackers to steal your data. Therefore, it is desirable that the smartphone has a new version of Android or iOS. This will allow you to hope that for at least 2-3 years you will receive software updates for your mobile device.
A newer model usually means longer software support. But when deciding to buy a budget smartphone, you should not count on a long-term software update. For mid-range devices, the standard is one system update (new version) and several security updates.
On the other hand, flagship models receive new software for at least two to three years from the release date. Also, many phones have an outdated OS which affects performance & battery, but if you check the Honor x9 battery, it performs much better. Just because of the fact that it has a better OS which complements battery and performance.
Body & look
Remember, the new smartphone should be pleasant for you. When deciding on a new model, you cannot rely only on technical specifications. Pay attention to the case, and the materials from which it is made.
The point is, this is what you’ll be looking at for the next few months, if not years. On the market, there are models with plastic, aluminum, and glass cases, with a matte or glossy finish. Many manufacturers use holographic patterns in smartphones, so-called gradients, which change color depending on the angle of light.
Don’t pay for a brand
Some consumers are still strongly attached to a particular brand. They fanatically pay attention only to the device from their favorite manufacturer. And in vain, because over the past 2-3 years, the mobile phone market in Ukraine has changed a lot.
From time to time, new brands appear on our market that offer wonderful devices at attractive prices. Manufacturers such as Samsung, Huawei, and Apple have deservedly received wide recognition. They are respected, appreciated, and this, in turn, allows them to sell smartphones more expensive, expanding their presence in the mobile market.

Hopefully, with my advice, choosing your next smartphone shouldn’t be too hard for you. But remember that a new phone is an investment for years, so it’s worth taking a little more time to make the right choice and be sure that your smartphone will definitely not disappoint you.
