When she settled for the Bronze at the 2012 Summer Olympics, she became the first female badminton player. Commonwealth Games

She won the same title in 2014 and maintained her 100% record against Caroline. After this win, she was ranked third in the world whereas Caroline was pushed to seventh rank in the world. She lost the second set but qualified for the semi-finals. She also defeated her opponent in the pre-finals when she became the first Indian to have reached this height of being in the final of a World Championship.

  • Summer Olympics

Every athlete dreams to win a medal at the Olympics. This is by far the highest medal that a sports person can win in the world of sports. At the Summer Olympics 2012, this lady achieved her dream, where she was set up against World No 2, Xin Wang of China. Her win was debatable and the match was really tough for her. Xin Wang suffered from a knee injury during this match and the rest is history. The Indian fans were extremely proud of Saina because she gave a tough fight to her opponent.

She is the first Indian badminton player to win BWF super series titles. She also represented India at the Olympics Games in Beijing where she upset Wang Chen of Hong Kong and became the first Indian woman to reach the Olympics quarter-finals. She also won bronze at the 2014 Asian Games. She also settled for bronze in the 2016 Asian Badminton Championships. Another bronze for her in the Asian Games in Jakarta in 2018.
