The healing ministry is not a new thing; in fact, it has been going on for thousands of years. Although, of course, some churches do this more than others, and there are different kinds of healing. But one cannot ignore the power of this healing ministry and its importance to Christians.
In the Bible, there are many stories of Jesus healing people, and he still does it today. The Bible also teaches that we have spiritual gifts used for our benefit or the benefit of others (1 Cor. 12:7-10).
Some people are called to more than one gift, while others are only called to one. Jesus gave some gifts to everyone, but since everyone doesn’t have the same skill, it is up to us to find out what His plan for us is. We must be willing to give up what we have to acquire a better gift, and we know that receiving the Holy Spirit produces a simple, Spirit-filled life (John 7:38).
What is the Benefit of a Christian healing Ministry?
The Lord Jesus Christ is the one who heals (Matt. 8:16). He is the one who makes us whole, and those whom He has healed are the ones who have received a new life.
Also, by healing people, followers of Jesus Christ have peace in their minds and hearts. It also gives Him glory and brings people to Him (Matt. 10:28). By being healed, you are also healing your body and soul as well as that person’s body and soul (1 Thess. 5:23).
This healing ministry can also bring hope to people, building unity in a church and help us understand that the Lord will heal us if we give our lives to Him (Luke 5:17-26).
What are the Requirements of Healing Ministry?
Before we can start this ministry, we must have true salvation. We must know that there is a God and Jesus Christ and trust them (John 10:25). Next, we must pray for people to be healed (Matt. 9:29), always keep ourselves free from sin (1 Tim. 1:8), and we must be baptized in water (Acts 2:38). After we have these things, the Lord will open a door for us to use this ministry. Also, we must look for people who need healing. We can pray for an illness to go away, but sometimes, a person may need surgery or other medical care to heal.
How can we Receive Healing Ministry?
This is how we become involved in this healing ministry:
1. We must be saved and baptized (Acts 2:38).
2. We must pray for healing, not just for ourselves (James 5:14-16).
3. We must have the right attitude to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 4:7).
4. Accept people with good hearts, even though they may not be Christians (Rom. 14:1; Mark 9:38).
5. We must accept the Lord as the one who heals (Acts 10:38; John 4:46), and before we ask for His healing power, we should pray for other needs (Matt. 6:9-13).
6. We should not have anything against the person when we pray for them to be healed (1 John 2:15).
Healing Services at Church of the Holy Spirit
On the first Saturday of every month, you can find a healing service in the CHS healing Ministry. People who need healing are invited to attend and receive prayer. A trained prayer team will minister to people for about 5 – 15 minutes. There is time for the full service and afterward for fellowship. This ministry is open to everyone, even if you don’t attend CHS. Many people who have not participated in CHS have been healed here. Pastor Clancy leads the healing service.
Conclusion
The apostle Paul tells us that we should always pray for the sick and that healed people should worship God. He also tells us always to remember them, which is why CHS has this healing ministry.
