As announced last week, Mitsubishi is launching the Xpander Cross, a derivative of the Xpander, in Jakarta, Indonesia on November 12. The new model will debut in Indonesia and will be launched in ASEAN countries.
The Mitsubishi Xpander Cross 2022, with its sharp and youthful appearance, combined with the comfort of an MPV and a wide range of equipment, has been well received in the ASEAN markets since its launch in 2017, and Mitsubishi has announced an increase in production in Indonesia and a new production site in Vietnam.
The Xpander Cross, a derivative of the Xpander, adds a rich SUV element to the original MPV model.
The Xpander Cross is now available with an exclusive front and rear bumper, redesigned water tank cover, matte silver lower shield, black rear trim, and matte black anti-scratch trim around the body and wheel arches. The new 17-inch aluminum rims and metal roof racks also give the car a crossover look. In addition, the height of the car has been increased by 50mm to 1,750mm and the height above the ground has been increased by 20mm to 225mm, while two new colors, Graphite Grey and Sunset Orange, have been added to the car.

The Xpander Cross maintains a seven-passenger cabin with 60:40 separation in the second row and 50:50 separation in the third row, and 12V power in the front and third rows. The audio and video system is equipped with a touch screen, satellite navigation and Bluetooth and iPod pairing functions.
The powertrain of the Mitsubishi Xpander Cross continues the Xpander configuration with a 1.5-liter MIVEC engine with the original code 4A91, which produces 105 horsepower, and a traditional 4-speed automatic transmission or 5-speed manual transmission. The transmission method is front-wheel drive.
The Xpander Cross is expected to be launched in Indonesia on November 13, followed by ASEAN countries.
In China, U-CAR has recently asked Chung Hwa Motors again about its new vehicle introduction plan, and the introduction of the Xpander is still under evaluation. However, the Xpander’s power unit and safety equipment are definitely parts that must be enhanced. In Southeast Asia, the 4A91 1.5-liter MIVEC engine with 4-speed automatic transmission, 2 airbags, ABS, and other safety features are not enough to meet the needs of domestic consumers.
