With the size of the market and the increasing stringency of environmental and safety regulations in recent years, the official MSRP for a new car in the United States, such as the Mitsubishi Colt Plus, has reached the $500,000 mark. The Chevrolet brand, which is part of the GM Group, has recently unveiled its latest Chevrolet Spark 2022, which continues to be the most affordable new passenger car in the US market, so let’s see if it’s worth it.

The new Chevrolet Spark has been unveiled in the US market for the latest 2022 model year, and although the new model remains virtually unchanged from the past in terms of appearance, interior, equipment and, of course, power, the main difference is that it is available in two new colours, Cayenne Orange and Mystic Blue, and also The LS, 1LT, Activ and 2LT models will continue to be offered, but this also allows the LS-class 2022 Chevrolet Spark with its five-speed manual transmission setup to retain its title as the most affordable new passenger car in the US market at an MSRP starting at US$13,400 (TWD 376,000).

Despite its affordable price tag, the 2021 Chevrolet Spark comes with a reversing camera system, ten airbags and a 7″ touchscreen multimedia system in the centre console with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard equipment from the entry-level LS trim, and of course, the Chevrolet Spark comes with The Chevrolet Spark is also a major selling point in the marketplace, with a spacious 770 litres of luggage space created through seat facilitation and a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 98 hp.

You may wonder who is the second cheapest new passenger car on the US market apart from the Chevrolet Spark. The answer is the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage from the Japanese brand Mitsubishi. According to the manufacturer’s product information, the 2021 Mitsubishi Mirage is the second most affordable new passenger car in the US besides the Chevrolet Spark, with an MSRP starting at US$14,295 for the ES-rated hatchback model with a five-speed manual transmission. The Mitsubishi Mirage with its 76hp 1.2-litre three-cylinder engine and only seven airbags seems to make people hesitant to increase their budgets.
